Deal of the Day #2 - 12/8/11

Hello All,

On Sunday night, December 11th, at 6pm central time.  HP will be selling refurbished TouchPads for $99 for the 16GB and $149 for the 32GB.  They will be doing this only from their ebay store, and only accept PayPal as a payment method.  There is a limit of two per person and the units will have a 90 day warranty.  HP will also be selling a $79 bundle including a case, Touchstone dock, and wireless keyboard.  The dock allows you to charge the TouchPad wirelessly, you simply need to place it on the stand.

We scored one of the 32GB originally when they hit $149.  It was DOA when we got it and it took about six weeks to get it back from HP.  It is good for the money, but a first generation iPad is more responsive.  If you look at it like a giant iPod Touch, then it is a good deal.  For music playback, photo viewing, and light web browsing it works great.  Lastly, there is an effort to port Andriod 4 to the TouchPad.  If they get that working then you will have a very solid Andriod tablet for $99 or $149, and that is a great deal.

You can find this deal here.

Deal of the Day - 6/28/10

Hello All,

Another great deal on a large LCD monitor.  Woot is selling a refurbished HP 23" LCD monitor for $145 shipped to your door.

The only caveat that I see with this monitor is that for the best picture, and for most people, you need to buy a dvi to hdmi adapter.  Monoprice sells them for $5.  You can find that here.  On the plus side, you can use this monitor as a TV.  It would be awesome in a car on a road trip.

You can find this deal here.

Deal of the Day - 5/5/09

Hello All,

If you need a laptop, heck if you even think you want a laptop, then this is the deal for you. CompUSA is selling a HP 15.4" laptop for $329.99. This is a brand new machine, the only catch being a mail-in rebate, but for $100 who cares. This is a netbook priced laptop, buy it if you want a laptop. It is far and away the cheapest 15" new laptop I have ever seen.

Ok, there are definitely some negatives to this machine, but for under $400, you are getting a lot of bang for your buck. My general rule is an Intel Core 2 Duo for $500 or under is a good deal. This is only a single processor, but it is more than enough for most people. You can browse the web and check your email on it just fine. Gaming might stink, but no one buys a $330 laptop for gaming. At least you should not do that. If you do, you get what you paid for.

So on to a short sweet and sour.

The Sweet

1. It is a new laptop for $330.
2. 15.4" Screen
3. Dual Layer DVD Burner
4. Built-in wifi, ethernet, and phone
5. Did I mention it is $330?

The Sour

1. Not a dual core machine, so not 64 bit compatible
2. Only 1Gb of ram, although you have an open slot
3. Integrated video card
4. AMD Sempron processor
5. Vista Home comes on the machine
6. No firewire jacks

Ok, so the specs are not awesome, but again it is $330. It will work great for 95% of the things that most people use a laptop for, save your money and buy this if you are looking for a laptop.

The latop can be found here, and the rebate can be found here.

Deal of the Day - 8/21/08

Hello All,

If you need a new printer look no further. Newegg has a one day deal on a HP Deskjet F4280 Printer, scanner, copier. You can find the printer here.

It has a 4 star rating at Amazon, which is quite good.

It is $54.99 but drops to $29.99 with promo code EMCAJCBBD, and has free shipping. This does not come with the USB cable to hook it up to the computer, so add this one, for $5.09 in white, or in black to the cart if you do not have one already, those both have free shipping with them. They are a rip off locally, much like TV cables.

That is a one day, or until NewEgg decides deal, so act quickly if you want it.
