Hello All,
Quick one today. Woot is selling a 15.4" laptop for $305 shipped to your door. You can find it here. It has Linux on it, but aside from that it is a new, relatively good laptop for cheap. A netbook is the same price, and includes Linux, so why not go with a full size machine for the same price.
To help you along with one flavor of Linux, here is a free download of a Ubuntu book.
Since it is woot it will probably sell out, so act fast if you want one.

Hello All,
Best Buy has a great deal on a 46" 1080p Plasma HDTV. They are selling it for $999.99. You can find this deal here. Panasonic makes great TVs and technically plasma is better than LCD. I always passed on them in the past due to the additional cost, and energy usage, but this TV is $300 less than my 46" Samsung LCD and it has a better picture.
If you have yet to get into the HDTV game, this TV is a great one to get to jump in to the game.
Another plus with this TV is all the reviews are glowing. You can find reviews here, here, and here.

This is a great DSLR that works with Minolta lenses as well as Sony lenses. You can see a more detailed post on this camera here.

Hello All,
Circuit City is selling Call of Duty 4 for the 360 for only $19.99. You can find this deal here. This is a great game, and well worth the $20 price. It was the best selling game of 2007 and as you can see here, one of the best games on the 360. Note this is the regular game, not the game of the year edition. The only difference is the game of the year comes with codes to download more multi-player maps for free. You can download all of the maps for much less than the $40 difference in the two games, if you want to play on-line.

Deal of the Day - 1/12/09
Hello All,
Buy.com is selling 13 months of Xbox Live Gold service for $29.99, with free shipping. If you have a 360 and go on-line, this is as cheap as you can get the service. Note that you will have to change to the slower shipping, as by default they try to send it to you faster, and not for free. You can find this deal here.
This will probably sell out so act fast if you want it.
Two last things. One, if have a 360 but do not have a gold account, check this out, it is worth the upgrade. Two, I believe there are free games right now if you add a picture to your account before you enter in the Gold Membership code. I do not have my 360 in front of me, but I will check it out as soon as I get home.

-- Update --
As yoteecoyote posted, the Xbox live free game deal can be found in the comments. The deal for the free games expired on the 5th and it looks like you needed to buy the membership from Microsoft, at full price which is not a good deal.
-- Update 2 --
In case you missed it yesterday, Wal-Mart is having a very similar deal today. Their deal is a few pennies cheaper, but you have to go to Wal-Mart to get it, or pay for shipping. You can find this deal here.

Deal of the Day - 1/8/09
Hello All,
--UPDATE--SOLD OUT--
I am not surprised, $80 GPS does not last long. Ok, here is what I will do for you all today, alternatives :-).
The GPS I have, and paid $220 for it. It is only $170 and totally worth the money. It has bluetooth and the best navigation system there is. Garmin is the best GPS on the market. In case you missed the above link, click here.
Here is a Navigon, with traffic updates, and a larger screen. I know nothing about Navigon, but the reviews are decent.
And last but not least, an Omnitech for $100 from Staples, although it is after rebate. It is wider than the Sony, with text to speech. The reviews are not as good as the navigon or the sony, but it is only $100 and it is in stock.
If you want to go with Sony, here is a bigger refurbished one from Sony. It has decent reviews here and here.
Sources on the tubes tell me this about the sony online store:
Call 1 (866) 525-7669 for extra discounts. They can usually apply a discount on certain products manually. NEVER place the order online by yourself. ALWAYS CALL!! Itll save you money, guaranteed!
John
Crutchfield is selling a Sony GPS for $80. This normally would not be that big of a deal however, this unit has Text to Speech, which is the most important feature on any GPS. This unit says turn right on Main Street, as opposed to turn right in 500 ft. When you are driving alone and using this as the navagator, that feature is invaluable. It allows you to keep your eyes on the road, not on the screen. You can find this unit here.
You can find reviews here. I could not find any other reviews for this unit.
I like GPS. I never thought I would need it or want it, as I can read a map. It is nice to never have to print out directions from google, and it is really nice to be able to find something, lets say a Subway, when you are driving a long distance and do not know the area. You can use the GPS to tell you there is a Subway in 10 miles and it is right off the off ramp of the interstate, making for a quick stop. That is great.

Deal of the Day - 1/7/09
Hello All,
Newegg is selling the Asus Eee PC in black for $199. This is a netbook pc which means it is really small, has Linux on it by default (you can install windows pretty easily on it, but you probably don't need to), but it has great battery life and works great for web browsing and email, which is the majority of the stuff people do on a computer these days. You can find the deal here. The model is 249.99 on sale and use coupon code EMCABAGAJ to get the remaining $50 off.
Reviews from big sites are few and far between, but here are the reviews from Amazon, which has it for $75 more than newegg.

Hello All,
Amazon is selling the top selling 50 albums from 2008 for $5 each. You can find this deal here.
I have purchased way more music from Amazon than from any other mp3 store. They have everything, they are all DRM free, they are usually 256 or better for the bit rate, and they have lots of sales on the music. This $5 an album one for example.

Hello All,
Two quick ones. Woot is selling a two pack of iPod speakers/chargers for $105 shipped to your door. They are Polk miDocks and you can find this deal here. That is two, not one two iPod speaker docks, one for you and one for the wife. They do not work with 3G iPhones, well they do, but not for charging.
Number 2, a great one for Valentines day. Shopping.woot is selling a 5.6" Philips digital photo frame for $28 shipped. Roses cost more and do not last as long. This frame is a touch on the small side, but for the price it is hard to beat. The only real negative with this product is that it does not have any internal memory, so you need to use a SD card or USB flash drive with it the whole time. Not a deal breaker, just an FYI. You can find this deal here.

Deal of the Day - 1/3/09
Happy New Year Everyone,
Lets get the new year rolling with new posts on cameras. The next three months are prime time for camera price drops and new camera releases. If you want a new camera now is the time to keep your eyes open. The current models will drop and new cameras with features you cannot live without will be out shortly. Kind of a bummer it is right after Christmas, but they do that on purpose. Kind of like how Apple releases all of their new laptops right after school starts. They are not accidents. Anyway, on to the deals.
Amazon has an incredible deal on a Nikon D80 body only. They are selling the body brand new for $518. That is a great deal. You can find it here.
If you add this 18-50 lens to your package you have a great starter lens, and an incredible camera to get started on photography and all for under $600.
The major advantage that this camera offers over newer cameras is that it has an autofocusing motor built into the camera body, so you can use old Nikon lenses, and still get them to work great with your camera. You cannot do this with a D40, or D60, or I think the D90. The big advantage with this is you can get old lenses cheap, and they will work great for you.
The D60 is also very attractive and comes with a lens, or two if you look in the right spots and you do not care about using older lenses. The camera with one lens is on sale at Amazon for $520. You can find that here.
The D60 with two lenses, the package I would recommend, for the D60, is $650. You can find it here.
For a nice feature breakdown between the D80 and D60 you can look here. For the best in-depth reviews of the cameras, here is the D80, and the D60.
One last option if you do not want to shell out over $500. You can find a refurbished Canon XTi with a lens, here, for $413. This is a great camera, I own one, and an inexpensive way to get into photography. This camera was refurbished by Canon so I have more faith in it than most refurbished equipment. Canon is also excellent in both their customer service and their warranty support making me even less worried about a refurbished piece from them.
Later,
John
