Deal of the Day - 5/30/11

Hello All,

Zagg is offering their awesome protection screens for 50% off, today only.  Actually they are offering 50% off everything storewide, but the screens are the only thing I have any experience with, and I cannot recommend them enough.  While on vacation in California I dropped my poor Canon G9 out of my pocket onto the asphalt.  It landed square on the screen, which was covered with a Zagg Screen Shield.  The G9 walked away with a small crack in the very corner of the screen, but otherwise everything else was fine.  I am sure if I did not have the Zagg on my camera I would have a G9 with a broken LCD screen and be out a couple hundred dollars to get the screen replaced.

They sell protection screens for just about anything that has an LCD.  I have them on all of our cameras, and on our old iPhones.  I have them for our new iPhones but have not gotten around to putting them on yet.  You need to leave the device unpowered for 12 to 24 hours which is hard for me with my iPhone.

You can find the sale here.

Happy Memorial Day Everyone,

John

Deal of the Day - 5/1/11

Happy May Day Everyone,

Just in time for mothers day, Best Buy is offering the Canon SD1400IS for $129.99.  This is the smallest point and shoot camera Canon has ever made, yet it has an impressive list of features.

  • 2.7" LCD screen - 230,000 pixels
  • 4x zoom
  • 720p HD Video recording
  • mini HDMI out
  • Image Stabilization
  • Wink Detection - Wink your eye to make it snap a picture
  • Face Detection - For focusing on faces, or setting a timer that will not go off until it detects a face in the scene.
  • Miniature Effect
  • Fish-Eye Effect
We own this camera and are very happy with it.  As a warning it is very small, so if you have large hands I would suggest you check it out in a store before pulling the trigger on a purchase.  Lastly, the SD1300IS is a better picture taking camera, but the SD1400IS has more features, and adds the 720p HD video mode.  If you plan to print large pictures from this camera, get the 1300IS.  If you want something for snapshots and maybe up to 5x7 along with videos, get this camera.

You can find reviews here, here, and here.

You can find it at Best Buy here.  I would suggest you act quickly, as I would bet this sells out.  Amazon is currently selling the same camera for $190, but they should price match eventually.

John
