Deal of the day - 3/19/14

Hello All,

Three posts in a row, man when was the last time that happened.  Today only Amazon is selling certified refurbished 8.9" Kindle Fire HD for $129.  The tablet comes with a full one year warranty just as a new one does, it is just a new one does, but it is $170 less than new pricing.  In case you do not know this is basically an iPad for a little over $100.  The iPad is a superior device, but it is not four times the device, which is what it would have to be for this price.  The Kindle Fire has some nice parental controls for limiting screen time and access to apps.  The only negatives I see are the ads and that it does not come with a power adapter.  Wow, no power adapter, sneaky way to reduce the price.  The ads do not seem to be very intrusive, but still ads are annoying on something you pay for.  Two strikes against it, but for the cost still a great value.

Happy Belated Birthday to Terry and Josh.  Sorry not to hit you up on your actual birthday guys, but there were no good deals yesterday.  Today though, there is a great deal.  Woot is selling a refurbished 32GB Toshiba Thrive tablet for $324.95 shipped to your door.  That is a lot of tablet for a little bit of money. Deal of the Day - 1/27/12

Hello All,

I would like to start this post by wishing a Happy Birthday to my wife, Laura.  Woot also decided to wish you a Happy Birthday by having good deals on HP TouchPad tablets.  You can get the 32GB for $224.99, the 16GB sold out already.  I picked up one of these when HP blew them out, and for the money they are totally worth it.  WebOS is easy to use, and you can install Android on them if you really want to.  I have not yet done that to mine as it works well enough with WebOS.  More pluses, you can plug it into any computer and move content onto and off of it, the speakers are the best I have heard in a tablet device, and if it breaks because of your kid dropping it at least you are not out $500 for an iPad.  You can find reviews here and here.

Deal of the Day - 1/5/12

Hello All,

The hot tech product right now is tablets, everyone wants one.  If you are everyone then today is a good day for you.  Woot is selling refurbished Toshiba Thrive tablets for $285 shipped to your door.  This is a great tablet for anyone who is not married to Apple, or just wants a good general use tablet.  A couple of highlights where it beats the 16GB iPad.

• User replaceable battery
• Full set of ports - USB, HDMI, mini USB, and SD card slot

Two solid deals on Android tablets for today.  Woot is selling the Toshiba Thrive 16GB tablet for $294.99 shipped to your door.  This is a very solid tablet that has GPS, HDMI out, USB, and a SD card reader all built in to the unit.  For icing on the cake, this tablet will be upgraded to Android 4, which is built for tablets.

If you want to buy something new, the Lenovo IdeaPad K1 32GB is on sale at both Staples and Office Depot for $299.99.  In my searches it seems that this tablet will also get updated to Android 4, but there is no official word from Lenovo.
