Hello All,
Quick one today. Woot is selling a 15.4" laptop for $305 shipped to your door. You can find it here. It has Linux on it, but aside from that it is a new, relatively good laptop for cheap. A netbook is the same price, and includes Linux, so why not go with a full size machine for the same price.
To help you along with one flavor of Linux, here is a free download of a Ubuntu book.
Since it is woot it will probably sell out, so act fast if you want one.
